Every visit to Zambia should include a trip to the magnificent Victoria Falls, where the Zambezi River plunges over 100 metres into the ravine below. Best viewed in July and August, the "Mosi-oa-Tunya" ("the smoke that thunders") is a spectacular sight.
A whole host of adventure sports are on hand, including white water rafting, the 'Flight of Angels' (a small plane or helicopter flight over the Falls) abseiling and even bungee jumping for the fearless. The Zambezi River flows for some 2700 kms through the Lower Zambezi Valley and is perfect for canoeing holidays.
Zambia has some of the best, and largest, national parks in Africa, including Kafue, Lower Zambezi and North and South Luangwa. Wildlife in the savannah, ebony groves and around the oxbow lagoons is abundant and varied, in addition to more than 400 recorded bird species.
