Suggested Luggage List
- Good quality sunglasses - preferably polarized. Tinted fashion glasses are not good in strong light
- Sun hat
- Golf-shirts, t-shirts and long-sleeved cotton shirts
- Shorts / skirts
- Long trousers / slacks
- More formal attire (gents - sports jacket or lounge suit. Ladies - cocktail dress) if you are staying at a prestigious city hotel or are journeying on a luxury train
- Underwear (sports bra recommended on game drives as the roads can be bumpy and uneven) and socks
- Good walking shoes (running / tennis / trainers are fine unless you are planning to do any ambitious hiking)
- Sandals
- Swimming costume
- Warm winter jersey
- Warm Anorak or Parka and scarf / gloves for the cold winter months (May to September)
- Light rain gear for summer months (late November to April)
- Camera equipment and plenty of film / extra digital memory cards
- If you wear contact lenses, we recommend a pair of back-up glasses, in case you get irritation from dust whilst on safari
- Binoculars. Night vision binoculars are not essential but highly recommended if your holiday includes night game drives on safari
- Newman's bird book if you are a keen birder (available at airports and quality bookshops)
- Personal toiletries
- Malaria tablets (if applicable)
- Moisturising cream and suntan lotion
- Insect repellent e.g. Tabard, Rid, Jungle Juice etc. Freely available from chemists and retail outlets
- Basic medical kit ( aspirins, plasters, Imodium, antiseptic cream, anti-histamine cream etc
- Tissues / wet-wipes
- A small torch is often very useful
- Visas, tickets, passports, money etc
- Waterproof / dustproof cover for your camera
Please note that bright colours and white are NOT advised whilst on safari / game drives. Remember that there may be weight restrictions on luggage amounts for internal / domestic flights.
