 Africa is the perfect destination for a family holiday. The weather is great, there is a wide choice of accommodation to suit every budget, a whole range of fun activities to suit all ages, breath-taking scenery and, of course, as much wildlife as you want. Combine all these ingredients and you have the recipe for a perfect family holiday.
Holidays with young children must be carefully planned to give them (and you) a memorable experience. Of all the Southern African countries, South Africa is best equipped for family holidays.

 If you are planning a safari, let us know the ages of your children as they need to be 6 or older to be allowed in a game viewing vehicle. Children under this age often don't want to sit still or be quiet for long periods of time, which can result in animals in their natural habitat being disturbed or becoming distressed. Children also need to be 12 and over to go on game walks.
Many game lodges and some accommodation providers do not accept children under 10. For families with young children, we would choose the best child-friendly accommodation.
If you or your children have any special dietary requirements, we will make sure that all your destinations are notified (and reminded) well in advance of your arrival. If you are travelling with a young baby, we'll make sure than major brand baby food is also available.
Medical care is generally good in South Africa and every town will normally have its own medical practice. However, medical care is private in South Africa so sufficient medical insurance to cover the whole family is a must.
The African sun is very strong; make sure you take hats and high-factor sunscreen for the whole family.
